Sheldon started Mumo, which built Mumoactive, an award-winning diabetes communications app that connects families and support around a person’s diabetes.
As a tech tool, Mumoactive’s mission is not to tell people how to manage diabetes. It creates a digital environment that connects people with type 1 and 2 with their support around the diabetes information they care about - so they can manage however works best for them: connect with families, teachers, mental health and clinical support securely.
Sheldon’s “digital” health philosophy is aligned with blockchain: it will be a decentralised, secure and transparent data environment where people control their secure health information. This new environment will solve countless problems first, for people managing health; and second, for healthcare providers who want to use digital tools to better service their patients.
Mumo is an NHS Business Partner and Mumoactive is on the NHS Apps Library in the UK. Sheldon has spoken on digital tools in diabetes management widely. His TEDxNHS talk is entitled "Connected Health is Connected People."
Sheldon has a Philosophy PhD from LSE in London UK and two sons with type 1 diabetes. He thinks the future of digital health is people storing and sharing their own health information anywhere in the world.
