Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chairman of the Department of Medico-Economic Information at the University Hospital of Liège, Belgium. He is also Professor of Physiology and Biochemistry at the University of Liège. Pr. Kolh is a scientist, university administrator, hospital administrator, and physician, with substantial and diverse experience in information technology and accomplishments in biotechnology and bioengineering, and non-profit organizations. His background involves significant experience in funded scientific research, and he has served on several scientific advisory boards, mainly in the life sciences. The author of more than 220 publications in peer reviewed Journals, Pr. Kolh has given more than 230 international lectures.
Philippe Kolh received his medical training at the University of Liège, where he graduated in 1989 as a valedictorian with summa cum laude. Pr. Kolh completed most of his residency training in general, cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery at the University Hospital of Liège, Belgium. During the academic year 1993-1994, he was fellow of Heart and Lung Transplantation at Yale University Medical Center, and, during the academic year 1994-1995, fellow in Cardiac Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Instructor and Teaching Assistant in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Boston.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Vascular and EndoVascular Surgery, Associate Editor of thé European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Applied Informatics.
He currently serves a chair of the Governing Council of HIMSS Europe and as the European representative in HIMSS Board of Directors.
