Maria Marenco, born in Latin America and grew up in Sweden and currently based in London
Maria forms part of HIMSS EMEA Communities team – Public Affairs and communications and is the in-house subject matter expert in innovative assistive technologies such as Blockchain and AI, as well as Mental Health.
Moreover, she is a HIMSS Blockchain in Healthcare Taskforce Contributor and member, member, and Contributor HIMSS Blockchain Policy and Ethics Tiger Team (PETT).
Maria has spent most of her professional career in the broad overlapping fields of health and informatics.
She is inspired by a holistic vision of human wellbeing, that encompasses physical and mental health. Guided by this vision, and after several years of accumulated and valuable experience also in the pharma industry, she launched her own consultancy company with particular attention on digital health solutions, mental health, and blockchain strategy.
Besides her entrepreneurial background, Maria is also involved in The Swedish Blockchain Association, as the vertical lead for eHealth/Health sector and Sweden/Nordic Chapter President for the Government Blockchain Association. After having completed the Oxford Blockchain Strategy Program she has been deep diving and exploring the potentials and challenges of DLT (Distributed Ledger Technologies) in the healthcare domain in a variety of applications.
Embracing her multicultural experiences, she is always keen to exchange knowledge and thoughts with her peers around not only the aspects of the use of technologies but also the cultural and ethical importance for potential successful technology adaption.
