James has led and delivered some of the highest profile IT change programmes in the public and private sector in the UK. Over the past decade James has led many aspects of the government’s digital transformation of the health and care system. He is currently Director for Strategy and Planning at NHS Digital, and previously he was Director of Programmes.
During a year out from Health Technology, James led the strategic review of the security workforce delivery plan for the London 2012 Olympics, and then the programme to recruit a 23,000 strong workforce that made the London games safe and secure for athletes and spectators. Previously James was a leading member of the team that successfully introduced London’s Congestion Charging scheme.
Before joining NHS Digital, James worked for private-sector organisations including British Gas, Virgin Media, and Deloitte. James has a Master of Engineering from Heriot Watt University and is a graduate of the Government’s Major Project Leadership Academy at the Said Business School, University of Oxford.
